What a broadcast is
A broadcast is one message posted into every channel that matches an audience you choose, with a receipt for each person. It is how you tell forty people something and then show who was told.
Sending one
In the admin panel, go to Team > Team chat and press Broadcasts, or use the megaphone in the conversation list.
Choose the audience: everyone, one or more sites, staff groups, roles, or employment types. The composer shows how many people that reaches before you send.
Write it, attach anything it needs, and choose a priority.
Send it now, or schedule it for later.
Priorities
Normal: an ordinary notification, subject to mutes and quiet hours.
High: the same reach, flagged in the list.
Urgent: cuts through mutes and quiet hours, and asks each person to swipe to acknowledge on their phone before they can carry on.
Keep urgent for genuine emergencies. A kitchen closure, an allergen change, an evacuation. If everything is urgent, the swipe becomes a reflex and the mechanism is worth nothing when it matters.
The report
Open a broadcast from Team > Team chat > Broadcasts to see, per person: delivered, read, and acknowledged with the time. It also shows how many mutes and quiet hours an urgent broadcast bypassed, and marks anybody who has since left the business.
Press Remind to push again to the people who have not acknowledged, or export the report as a CSV for your records.
People without the app
Somebody with no active device still gets a broadcast that asks for acknowledgement, by email. They can read it; the acknowledgement comes when they next open the app.
Why this matters at an inspection
"We told the team" is worth very little on its own. A broadcast report is dated, names each person, and can be exported, which is the difference between saying you communicated a change and showing it.
