The problem this solves
A tablet on the pass signed in as one person makes every check-in, every completed task and every message look like that person did it. Device mode fixes the attribution without making everybody carry a phone.
Setting a tablet up
In the admin panel, go to Settings > Locations and open the Shared devices card for the site.
Add a device, give it a name, and note the six-digit code. It expires in five minutes.
On the tablet, open Paddl Assist and enter the code on the pairing screen.
The tablet is now paired to that site. You can revoke it at any time from the same card, which ends its session immediately.
Tapping in
Staff tap their name, enter their PIN, and the tablet is theirs until they tap out or it goes idle. Anything they do in that window is recorded under their name.
People set their own PIN in the app under Profile > Chat PIN. A manager can reset one for somebody who has forgotten it, from the team member's page. Five wrong attempts locks that person out of the tablet for fifteen minutes.
What a tablet can do when nobody is tapped in
It shows the site channel read-only, so the board is visible to the room, and offers the tap-in screen. It cannot post, and it never receives anybody's personal notifications.
Direct messages on a shared tablet
Direct messages are hidden on a shared device by default, because a screen on the pass is not a private place. Channels and groups work normally.
