Controlling your notifications
Go to Settings > Notifications to choose which alert categories notify you and through which channels (in-app, email, push). Tune these so the important things reach you without drowning in noise.
The rota has its own category, Rota & shifts, with a switch per kind of message: Open shifts for a published shift still empty 48 hours out, and Rota vs forecast for a day whose rostered wages look out of step with what the site is expected to take. Owners hear about every site; a manager hears about the sites they manage. See Unfilled shift alerts.
Notifications come from the system
Paddl raises notifications automatically (overdue tasks, out-of-range readings, upcoming expiries, and so on). Your settings control whether and how they reach you.
Team chat has its own category
When team chat is switched on you get a Team chat category with four switches: direct messages, mentions, channels and broadcasts. Turning channels down to mentions only is usually enough to quieten a busy site channel without missing anything aimed at you. You can also mute a single conversation from inside it, which beats switching the whole category off.
Quiet hours
Quiet hours sit on the same page. Set a start and end time and chat pushes hold until the morning; the messages are still there, they just do not buzz. Urgent broadcasts come through anyway unless you turn that off too, because they are the ones a manager needs answered.
Getting a message to the whole team
Use a broadcast. Pick who it goes to (everyone, a site, a staff group, a role, an employment type), send it, and the ack report tells you who has read it and who has not. Mark it urgent when you need a tap-to-acknowledge rather than a read receipt.
When you need proof rather than a message, upload a document with required sign-off, or put the detail in the Knowledge Hub so staff and Ask Paddy can find it later.
