What Legal Guidance does
Legal Guidance helps you triage a tricky situation, a customer or staff injury, a food safety scare, an employment question, a problem with a lease or a supplier, and tells you what it means, the sensible next steps, and the evidence to gather. It draws on your own records and insurance so the steers are specific to your business, not generic.
You find it under Legal Guidance in the admin panel.
Starting an enquiry
Click New Enquiry
Choose the category that fits, such as a workplace or customer injury, food safety, an employment dispute, or a lease, licence, or contract question
Link an existing report if there is one (see below), or skip it
Confirm the details: when it happened, the location, how serious it was, and a description
Click Get Legal Guidance
Linking a report
If you have already logged the incident, link it. On the Link an existing report? step, pick the relevant incident, accident, or complaint record. Paddl pulls its details across, the location, date, severity, whether anyone was injured, and the description, and locks those fields so the guidance is built on what you actually recorded. Anything filled from the report is marked From linked report.
For a lease, licence, or contract question, you instead pick the relevant document (or upload a new one) so Paddl can review its terms alongside your question.
Quicker route: You can start straight from a record. Open an incident or accident and click Get Legal Guidance on it; the enquiry opens with that report already linked and the category pre-selected.
What you get back
Paddl returns a plain-English triage of the situation and the steps to take. Alongside it you will see:
Your insurance options, pulled from your policies, with the claims line and any legal helpline. Most business insurance includes free legal advice, so calling your insurer first is often the right move.
External resources, the relevant bodies to contact (for example a regulator or helpline), with phone numbers and links
Follow-up questions, so you can keep asking as the situation develops
Exporting a Legal Pack
Click Export Legal Pack to download a ZIP that pulls the whole enquiry together: the conversation transcript, your relevant insurance policies, the linked report, the external referrals, and any related risk assessments. It is the evidence pack to hand to your insurer or solicitor.
Important: This is general guidance to help you act sensibly and gather evidence. It is not a substitute for professional legal advice. For anything serious, speak to a qualified solicitor.
