What a module is
Paddl is made of modules, such as Allergens, Maintenance, Rota & Scheduling and Team chat. Each one has its own pages, app tabs and cards, alerts and things Ask Paddy can do. Switch off what your business does not use and Paddl gets simpler for everyone: the sidebar, the app and Paddy only offer what you actually run.
The core is always on and cannot be switched off: your dashboard, locations, team, routines, reports, documents, knowledge, Ask Paddy and inspections.
The catalogue
Open Settings > Modules. Modules are grouped under Always on, Operations, Compliance, Protection, Team and Enterprise. Each card shows:
Its state: On, Off, Locked or Always on
A short description, and a badge where it matters: Expected for your venue when inspectors expect it for a venue like yours, or Recommended for an off module that suits your business
How much it is used, such as when it was last used and how many records it keeps
What you get: how many pages on the web, tabs and cards in the app, alerts it can raise and things Ask Paddy can do
Set it up to open the module's setup, and How it works to open its help article where there is one
Only the business owner can switch modules on or off. Managers see the same page read-only.
Switching a module off
Click Switch off on its card
Read the confirm sheet. It lists the modules that depend on this one and go off with it, the records that are kept, the open alerts that will be hidden and the automations that will pause. If inspectors expect the module for a venue like yours, it says so, because it also leaves your EHO pack. For Allergens it warns that your live allergen page, its printed QR codes and your website embed will stop working
Choose why you are switching it off, and click Switch off. Keep it on leaves it as it is
What happens when a module is off
Its rows leave the sidebar where they stood. A drilldown left with one page becomes a link to that page, and owners get an Add modules row at the end of a section that lost one
Its pages show a panel saying it is switched off, with a button to switch it on for the owner and a note for anyone else to ask the owner. Old links and bookmarks land there rather than on an error
Its alerts and notifications stop, open ones are hidden, its scheduled work skips your business, and Ask Paddy stops offering its actions
The app drops its tabs, home cards and quick reports, and Readiness, the Inbox, the Records chips, Home and the Audit Pack leave out what it kept
Nothing is deleted. Switch it back on and its records are where you left them
Switching a module on
Click Switch on. If it needs another module to work, the sheet says Also switches on with the ones it brings, and Switch on turns them all on together.
Locked modules
A Locked card cannot be switched from here, and it says why:
Not available in your country, such as business rates outside the UK
Paddl switches this on for enterprise accounts, such as regions. Use Ask Paddl on the card to talk to us
It needs another module switched on first, for a module that sits under another, such as Batch traceability under Suppliers
The starter set
When you set up a new business, the last onboarding screen, Here is your Paddl, shows the modules picked from what you told us about the business. They are already switched on. Untick what you do not need and tick what you do, and each change saves straight away; Switch everything on turns the lot on. Businesses that joined before modules existed saw a one-time version of the same step, pre-selected from what they already used, so confirming kept everything as it was.
Something has disappeared
If a page, a Records chip, an app tab or a report type has gone, look here first: its module is probably off. Paddl never hides something because it is empty. An empty page is simply empty, with a prompt to get started.
