Why you are asked to sign
Signing a HACCP plan is your record that you have read it and will follow it. An inspector can ask who on the team knows the plan, and the signatures answer that. Each signature is for one version: when the plan is revised and put back in force, everyone asked to sign is asked again.
Signing in the admin panel
If you are one of the people asked to sign and have not signed the current version, the plan shows You need to sign this HACCP plan at the top, with a Sign plan button. The same notice sits at the top of the plan's Signatures page. A link from Paddy or from Readiness opens the plan, so the button is the first thing you see.
Open the plan from Food Safety > HACCP Plans, or follow the link you were sent
Read the plan, then click Sign plan
On Sign HACCP Plan, read the declaration, sign in the Your Signature box and confirm you have reviewed it
Click Sign & Complete
The notice goes as soon as you have signed. Sign Plan in the plan's Verification section does the same job.
Signing in the app
Staff usually sign on their phone. Everything waiting for your signature, HACCP plans included, is under Me > To sign. Tap the plan, read the Before You Sign points, confirm and sign. Once you have, the plan says You have signed this HACCP plan. A signature in the app clears the notice in the admin panel too, and the other way round.
Who is asked to sign
Only a plan in force with staff sign-off turned on asks for signatures. A group master is never signed: staff sign their own site's plan. The people asked are:
Whoever the plan names under Who needs to sign?, if anyone is named
Otherwise the staff at the plan's site; for a region's plan, the staff at sites in that region; for a business-wide plan, everyone
Owners and managers who can change the plan see who has signed, and who is still awaited, under Manage Signatures in its Verification section.
Asked to sign a plan from another site
Sometimes a plan names someone who does not work at its site, such as a head chef who covers two kitchens. They can open the plan to read and sign it, but they see it read-only: the plan, the notice and the button to sign, and nothing they could change. There are no edit buttons, no team list and no signatures to manage. Their own sites' plans look as usual.
Paddy cannot sign for you. A signature is a personal attestation, so Paddy can remind you and take you to the plan, but you sign it yourself.
