What COSHH covers

COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) is about the chemicals you use, mostly cleaning products and sanitisers. Paddl keeps a digital register so the safety information is to hand for staff and for an inspection.

Adding a chemical

  1. Go to COSHH

  2. Click Add Item

  3. Enter the product name, manufacturer, and hazard information

  4. Upload the safety data sheet (SDS)

  5. Add how and where it is used at each location

What to capture for each product

A good COSHH entry records the GHS hazard pictograms and signal word, the PPE needed (eye, hand, respiratory, body), first aid measures for skin, eyes, inhalation, and ingestion, plus safe handling, storage, spillage, and disposal. If you upload the SDS, Paddl can help pull these details out so you are not retyping the sheet.

Run out of your usual sanitiser? Do not improvise with random products on food surfaces. Keep a buffer stock, and see our food safety answers for safe substitutes.
