What COSHH covers
COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) is about the chemicals you use, mostly cleaning products and sanitisers. Paddl keeps a digital register so the safety information is to hand for staff and for an inspection.
Adding a chemical
Go to COSHH
Click Add Item
Enter the product name, manufacturer, and hazard information
Upload the safety data sheet (SDS)
Add how and where it is used at each location
What to capture for each product
A good COSHH entry records the GHS hazard pictograms and signal word, the PPE needed (eye, hand, respiratory, body), first aid measures for skin, eyes, inhalation, and ingestion, plus safe handling, storage, spillage, and disposal. If you upload the SDS, Paddl can help pull these details out so you are not retyping the sheet.
Generate a risk assessment or handling routine from a chemical
Once a chemical is in your register, open it and click Generate risk assessment. Paddl drafts a COSHH risk assessment from that product using its hazards, PPE, and handling and storage detail, for you to check and edit before saving. To cover everything on site at once, use Generate COSHH risk assessment from the COSHH list.
From the same chemical you can also click Create handling routine. Paddl drafts a recurring routine from the storage, handling, and spillage guidance, so the safe method becomes a checklist your team works through rather than a sheet they have to remember. When you upload a safety data sheet and Paddl creates the record for you, it offers both as suggested next steps.

Your COSHH chemicals also feed your HACCP plan. When you generate a plan, Paddl uses each chemical's hazard statements to shape the chemical control points, and if you add a new chemical later you can run Review with AI on the plan to fold it in.
