A staff member is blocked from a task or area

Some tasks and areas are gated behind required training or a role, so a block is often working as intended until the requirement is met.

The symptom

A staff member is stopped from starting a task or opening an area, often with a message about training or permissions.

Why it happens

Some tasks and areas are gated. A role can be set to require a certificate or a piece of training before the person is allowed to do certain work. Until they meet the requirement, the block is doing its job.

Full diagnostic

  1. Check the requirement on their role. Look at what their role requires, for example a food hygiene certificate or a completed training module.

  2. Check their training is complete and in date. Under Team > Training, confirm the required module is finished and has not expired. An expired certificate blocks access the same as a missing one, so it may need retaking.

  3. Check the role itself. If the person should not be gated at all, the task may simply be assigned to a different role. Adjust the assignment or their role as appropriate.

For how staff work through and complete training, see Completing Training on the App.
